Western Avenue Development Meeting

The West Rogers Park Community Organization, West Ridge Chamber of Commerce and Rogers Park Business Alliance are hosting a community meeting for the Western Avenue development plan.   The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at Devon Bank.  Everyone is invited, but, we are particularly interested in having individuals who have a background in business development, urban planning, architecture, and commercial real estate a the meeting.  Please pass this on to anyone you may know who has expertise in these areas.

Microsoft Office Basics Course Starts the week of

March 22, 2010

Classes are offered:

Monday and Wednesday (10am - 12pm)

Tuesday and Thursday (6pm - 8pm)

Saturday (9am - 1pm)

• 1st 5-week class covers Word and Powerpoint for $30

• 2nd 5-week class covers Excel and Access for $30

• Sign up for both classes for $50 

• Space is limited to 9 student per class

The basic computing and Microsoft Office course is taught regularly throughout the year and covers the basics of the Microsoft Office Suite, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access, along with basic typing and internet research skills.  These skills are critical to expanding your small business or improving your employability.

Meet the Puppets: They will introduce you to various kinds of puppets... hand-and-rod puppets, finger puppets, sock puppets. You will have an opportunity to "work" the puppets, make your own puppet-heads, learn a few acting skills and create a few humorous skits. Unique and fun!

Teen Yoga Workshop

A two hour workshop geared towards teens 12 to 17
Through the physical practice of a Hatha Yoga Flow teens will be inspired to be playful and fun while exploring their flexibility, strength and body connectedness. Using breathing techniques students will learn the practice of increasing calm and control, physical and emotional adaptability and techniques to diffuse negative emotions.  Bring a mat or towel and water bottle.

Mixed skill level class, beginners thru advanced students. Getting to the essence of a subject, telling it's story, expressing a mood or emotion through spontaneous quick line drawing.
