The Mile Of Murals Project is a community public art project where we are creating an entire mile of murals along the mile of concrete embankment of the CTA Redline tracks on Glenwood Avenue from Pratt (6800 N) to Touhy (7200 N) on both sides of the tracks.  Each year, one or more blocks are selected to be painted and there is a call for muralists; artists are selected through a community process and a theme is developed for the artist.  When all blocks are completed, this will be a world class piece of public mural art that will attract visitors to the neighborhood and add to the quality of life for residents.  Up to this point, four blocks of murals have been completed as well as several viaducts.

 
The Mile of Murals project is a collaboration of artists, business, community and government.  Funded  by Special Service Area #24, this is a unique collaboration of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District, the Rogers Park Business Alliance, community and youth groups and individual artists with cooperation from Alderman Joe Moore, the CTA and Streets and Sanitation Dept. 

Bringing art to the community helps vitalize the neighborhood, adding to the quality of life for residents, supporting artists in the community and attracting visitors to our commercial and arts and entertainment district.

The Flats at Loyola Station Community Open House Event

The Flats at Loyola Station is an upscale, luxury guesthouse stationed in the heart of Rogers Park. Located across the street from Loyola University Chicago, this 10-unit renaissance-style guesthouse is a fully furnished state-of-the-art building that creates a unique experience for every guest. The Flats is affiliated with Loyola University Chicago, as it is managed and operated by undergraduate students. As the first undergraduate student business on campus, this project has been a full sprint since its inception as a student business in February 2010.

Neighbors and community members are invited to stop by the Flats to celebrate the successful launch of this student-run business.

There will be tours of the units and cooking demonstrations by local chefs from neighborhood restaurants

Out at Raven

Raven Theatre, located at 6157 N. Clark, reaches out to the LGBTQ community through their new event series, "Out at Raven".  This series shows Raven's appreciation of and commitment to the LGBTQ community, providing an opportunity to mingle and network during one Friday night performance of each mainstage show.  Each “Out at Raven”  performance includes a post-show wine and appetizer reception and discussion with the cast and director.
