Public meeting regarding a neighborhood improvement fund
“A Place to Live” is the theme of the public meeting that will be held by a grass roots community group, Northside P.O.W.E.R., which has members in Rogers Park and the North Shore communities.
The meeting will take place on Sunday June 14, 2009 from 3pm-4pm at 7659 N. Paulina St.
At the meeting Northside P.O.W.E.R. will unveil an exciting proposal for a 49th Ward wide neighborhood improvement fund that will assist landlords to rehab rental property and keep it affordable. Alderman Joe Moore will be on hand to commit to creating this cutting edge fund that will be the first of its kind in the City of Chicago. Also on hand will be Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin who will commit to creating an ordinance to fund the proposed Cook County Mortgage Foreclosure Diversion Program. That program is designed to keep people in their homes by providing them with court supervised mediation. Under this program everybody will win-home owners are not displaced; neighborhoods do not suffer from increasing vacancies; property values do not decline; and lenders continue to receive mortgage payments.
For more information contact Pam Reidy, Northside P.O.W.E.R. 847-998-4746.
