About the 808s:
A group of four young adults, aged 19 -22, residing in the North of Howard area in Rogers Park (CHicago's north side) created the 808s: Youth Empowerment thru Dance as a refuge for local youth in search for something to do that summer. Their efforts culminated in a hugely successful sold out show August 25th with 35 youth delivering an exciting and memorable performance.
The 808s have continued practicing, and performing, pleasing crowds in an array of settings, from a Loyola University Chicago half time, Cable Access Television, to a Christmas party for developmentally disabled teens in a local supportive housing community.
The "Lovers Lane" performance, done in conjunction with Phoenix Rising Chicago, a local Rogers Park dance company (focusing on ballet), will be the 808s third major performance.
